Rail services to and from Dublin's Heuston station will be disrupted over the St Patrick's Weekend as the first stage of a €117m development project begins.

While passengers contemplate the joys of more platforms on the project's completion, trains today stopped running to and from the station at 9 a.m.

Bus transfers have been put in place. Passengers will be transferred between Heuston and Kildare for Cork and Kerry trains, Heuston and Newbridge for Limerick, Galway and Mayo trains and Heuston and Athy for Waterford trains.

The station will reopen on Monday at 1 p.m.

Intending passengers have been advised to visit the Iarnród Éireann website or telephone 1850 366222.
