Manchester United have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Roy Carroll from Wigan.
Carroll, who has played nine times for the North, has signed a four-year contract at Old Trafford after joining for an undisclosed fee believed to be about £2.5 million sterling.
Along with Dutchman Raimond van der Gouw, who signed a one-year contract extension yesterday, he will deputise for United's first-choice keeper, Fabien Barthez.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "We are delighted to sign Roy as he is one of the most promising goalkeepers in Britain.
"He will play a number of games for us and will have the opportunity to learn under the best in the world, Fabien Barthez".
Carroll made 170 appearances for Wigan after joining them from Hull in 1997.
