Ulster Bank branches, bookmakers robbed in Dublin

Two branches of Ulster Bank were robbed at about the same time in Dublin this morning.

Two branches of Ulster Bank were robbed at about the same time in Dublin this morning.

In Dundrum, south Dublin, two armed men held up the bank at about 10am and escaped with an undisclosed sum of money. There were no injuries, and it is not clear how the raiders left the scene.

In Cloghran, near Dublin airport, a lone raider, who was also armed, robbed an Ulster Bank branch and escaped with a sum of money.

A Garda spokesman said it was not known what type of weapons were used in the raids and that both incidents were under investigation.

About half an hour after the raids, a bookmakers shop in Dublin city centre was targeted by another robber at around 10.30am.

Gardaí said a man forced a cashier in the Track bookmakers shop on Parliament Street, close to City Hall, to hand over a small amount of money.
