Mortgage lending by major British banks rose £4.8 billion sterling in November from the previous month, according to figures released by the British Bankers' Association (BBA).
In October, mortgage lending rose £5.8 billion from the previous month. The figures are net and seasonally adjusted.
Total mortgage lending expanded by £16.4 billion in November, after lending rose £17.8 billion in October.
Credit card borrowing - net and seasonally adjusted - expanded by £60 million in November, after it rose £283 million in October. The November figure is the lowest since May 2002

The BBA comprises nine major banking groups, including HSBC, HBOS, Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB, and Barclays.
