Prof Dervilla Donnelly was awarded UCD's Charter Day medal last night. The medal is awarded to a UCD graduate who has made "a major contribution to the country and the university". Prof Donnelly is a retired professor of organic chemistry at the college. She is the chairwoman of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and a board member of The Irish Times.
The award was made at the UCD Charter Day dinner which celebrates the granting of a charter to UCD in 1908.
