A 30-year-old taxi driver was being treated in hospital in Belfast last night after being shot in the leg at about 10.50 p.m. He was attacked after being called to a pub on the Grosvenor Road. He was found by RUC officers lying injured outside the premises.

In a separate incident in the city last night, a 19-year-old youth was found wounded in both legs. The RUC said he was the victim of a paramilitary punishment shooting.

The victim was abducted in the loyalist Rathcoole estate in North Belfast and taken to the neighbouring Mount Vernon area and then shot. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
