Two seriously injured in overnight Dublin assaults

Two men are to appear in court today, charged in connection with an overnight assault on a man on Dublin’s Lord Edward St.

Two men are to appear in court today, charged in connection with an overnight assault on a man on Dublin’s Lord Edward St.

A 35-year-old man suffered serious head injuries in the attack which took place shortly after 3 a.m. He was taken to St James’s Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Two men, aged 21 and 25 were arrested in connection with the assault and are to appear before the Dublin District Court today.

They are being detained at Kilmainham Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

In a separate incident, a 21-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in Harrington Street at 3.30 a.m. He was taken to James' Street hospital with stab wounds to the chest. His condition is described as critical.
