Two men have been arrested after what gardai have described as a serious assault on two people in Cork City this morning.
The incident happened at The Lough in the city at around 6.40 a.m. A Garda spokesman said two men, who had been fishing, were set upon by two other men, armed with a golf club and baseball bat with nails in it. One of the victims sustained serious injuries.
The two who were arrested are being held in Togher Garda Station.
