Palestinian hospital officials in Gaza this morning said two Palestinians shot and wounded by Israeli troops a day earlier during stone-throwing clashes died of their wounds.
An Israeli Army spokesman said troops had used live fire to disperse stone-throwers at the Karni crossing and was checking the report.
The sources identified one of the men as Mr Maher Afana, 27, and said he had died from a live round to his chest. They had not yet identified the second body.
The deaths followed a week of increased bloodshed inside Israel and the Palestinian territories which included a Palestinian suicide attack in Jerusalem on Thursday that killed at least 16 people and a bloodless Israeli reoccupation of Palestinian areas in Arab East Jerusalem.
