Two men are being sought by gardai in connection with a scam which saw a couple of houses falsely rented out to 18 different groups of people who were tricked out of €46,000.
The scam involved two houses, one in Portobello and another one in Beaumont in Dublin. In August one man, allegedly with a northern accent, rented the house and subsequently placed an advertisement in a newspaper and rented it out to nine other people, receiving a month's rent and a deposit.
The same scam was repeated with a second property in Beaumont this month. The men behind the scheme have gone missing. However, video footage exists which shows a man they want to interview apparently placing one of the advertisements in a newspaper.
