Two held after post office raid

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at a post office in Co Waterford.

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at a post office in Co Waterford.

The incident occurred at Lismore post office at about 10am when two men armed with a firearm and a hammer entered the premises and threatened staff.

The men left the post office with a “cash bag” which gardaí believe contained only a number of documents at the time.

Nobody was injured during the robbery.

Two men were arrested following the incident when gardaí stopped a car near Dungarvan.

The men, aged in their 20s and 30s, are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 at Dungarvan Garda station.
