Two people were due before Dublin District Court today in connection with a series of thefts in Dublin city centre.

They were among twelve Romanians arrested as part of Operation Hawkeye, the Garda's investigation into so-called "distraction" thefts at ATMs, pubs and clubs in the city.

Eight were charged yesterday and released on bail, while two others were further remanded in custody.

Two other people held at Pearse Street Garda Station last night were expected to appear before Dublin District Court later today.
