Two for Belfast court over homeless man's death

Two men are due in court in Belfast this morning in connection with the death of a homeless man at a city centre hostel.

Two men are due in court in Belfast this morning in connection with the death of a homeless man at a city centre hostel.

Mr Eric Atkins (41) was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday at the Lee Hestia hostel on Brunswick Street.

He is understood to have stayed at the centre for a number of nights before his death.

Mr Atkins, a former Royal Irish Ranger originally from Antrim, was found dead after what is thought to have been a dispute.

Three men were arrested and questioned by police after the discovery of the body.

Two men, aged 35 and 39, will appear before Belfast magistrates this morning.  The third man is still being questioned.
