Police arrested two suspected members of the Basque separatist group ETA in a dawn raid in the Lot-et-Garonne region of southwestern France, police said this afternoon.
The two men, who were not identified, were found in a rented residence and were in possession of firearms, police said. Their precise location was not disclosed.
ETA has killed nearly 850 people since 1968 in a campaign for an independent Basque state in northern Spain and southwestern France.
