MADRID - Two elderly people drowned and six others were injured yesterday when a bridge collapsed into the Tagus river at the Prince's Palace in Manjuez, a popular tourist attraction near Madrid.
A spokesman for the town hall in Aranjuez, 35 miles south of the capital, said a group of 52 elderly Spaniards had begun crossing the bridge which police said was designed to carry no more than 10 people at a time.
