Two divers have been rescued off the Co Antrim coast.

A lifeboat and helicopter were sent after the victims from the Newry and Mourne sub-aqua club went missing.

A coastguard spokesman said: “Both the divers were found on the shore near Bull Light, near Ballycastle.”

They were uninjured.

They were reported missing on a dive to the west of Rathlin Island in an area of shipwrecks. Their boat lost contact with them.

They reached the base of a cliff and were picked by the Sligo-based rescue helicopter.

Portrush lifeboat began the search and local boat-owners were also alerted.
