BRITAIN: Police in Berkshire were last night investigating a possible drugs link to the deaths of two children, Shannon Averiss (3) and Ciaran Averiss (14 months) who were killed when the car they were sitting in burst into flames.

Their parents, Ms Sulie Averiss and Mr Damien Moore, both 20, had left them inside the car for a few minutes while they collected a friend from a house in Reading suspected of being a source of drug dealing.

The children died after they were overcome by smoke when the car ignited shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. Ms Averiss said she had gone to the house to pick up money she had earned on her first day of work cleaning.

Forensic experts have been examining the car to decide if an electrical or mechanical fault may have caused the blaze.
