Travellers are refusing to leave lands owned by Fingal County Council at Dunsink Lane until the council provides suitable alternative accommodation for them, the High Court was told yesterday.

An undertaking was given on behalf of most of the Travellers that they would not engage in unauthorised use of the lands and would not sell cars, vans or store scrap pending the hearing of an action against them by the council. They also agreed there would be no dumping on the site and that they would not interfere with council staff who wished to clean the site.

Mr Justice Lavan granted injunctions against other travellers who did not participate in yesterday's proceedings. He adjourned the matter to December 19th to see if the orders were being obeyed.
