Members of a travelling family were attempting to "blackmail" a local authority into giving them money or a new caravan before they vacated a halting site to allow for a £6 million redevelopment, the High Court in Dublin has been told.
Ms Bridget Reilly, counsel for South Dublin County Council, told the court that 33 families had moved off the Lynch's Lane site to temporary accommodation to facilitate the redevelopment, but Mr and Mrs Edward Mongan and their extended family in three caravans had moved back and were blocking the redevelopment.
Mr Justice Barron granted an injunction ordering the Mongans to vacate the site.
