A top loyalist was tonight being questioned by detectives following a bank robbery in Northern Ireland.

A top loyalist was tonight being questioned by detectives following a bank robbery in Northern Ireland.

The man, a senior figure in the Loyalist Volunteer Force, was among four people arrested after the raid in Tandragee, Co Armagh.

Security sources said he was being held under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

He has been involved in talks to end a bitter feud between the LVF and rival Ulster Defence Association.

Three men have been shot dead during the vicious round of bloodletting in Belfast.

Tonight all four of those arrested were being questioned by police in Lisburn, Co Antrim.

In a follow-up operation following the robbery police found money and guns.
