Three people were injured during the fifth running of the bulls in the northern Spanish city of Pamplona today.

The six fighting bulls stayed together for much of the chase but one broke free causing fear among the screaming runners.

Spanish Red Cross spokesman Alfonso Contin said there were no gorings, but the city’s Navarra Hospital said three people had been admitted with bruises and cuts after being struck by the bulls or falls during the run.

The nine-day San Fermin festival, which became world famous after Ernest Hemingway wrote about it in his novel The Sun Also Rises, finishes on Saturday.
