Two men and a woman are being questioned at Tallaght Garda Station over the death of a man whose body was found in woodlands last November.

The three - aged 19, 27 and 28 - were arrested at their homes yesterday morning at around 8 a.m. They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, which allows for them to be questioned for 72 hours before being charged or released.

A Garda spokesman said the arrests were in connection with the death of Stephen Byrne.

Mr Byrne, from Tyrconnell Park, Inchicore, Dublin, was found in a ravine near the entrance to Ballinascorney Woods on the Dublin-Wicklow border on November 25th last year. He had been shot in the head.

Mr Byrne was known to gardaí. He was arrested in July 2002 over the wounding of a man in a shooting at a house at Emmet Road, Inchicore.

A motorbike garda gave chase and arrested him and another man. Mr Byrne was charged in connection with the incident but was killed before appearing in court.
