Three men have been arrested following an attempted robbery at a post office in Co Galway on Monday.

Three men have been arrested following an attempted robbery at a post office in Co Galway on Monday.

The incident happened at about 12.45 pm at the post office in Creggs.

Two men wearing masks entered the shop and threatened staff with a shotgun.

No items or cash was taken during the incident and the men fled the scene in a black SUV in the direction of the Glenamaddy Road.

No shots were fired and nobody was physically injured during the incident.

Three men, all aged in their 30s, were arrested under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at about 4.30pm in the Ballyhaigue area yesterday in connection with the incident.

Two of the men are being held at Ballinasloe Garda station, while the third is detained at Galway Garda station.
