Five men were arrested after a man in his 20¿s suffered a gunshot wound to his leg on Tuesday at 3.30pm at Glen Court, Emly, Co Tipperary

Three men will appear at Roscrea District Court this morning at 10.30am.The other 2 men were released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding their detentions.

A second man suffered a stab wound to his back during the course of the same incident which gardai believe may be linked to a falling out between members of the Keane criminal gang based in Limerick city.

The five, aged in their late teens and early 20¿s, were arrested at around 5pm on Tuesday on the Ballysimon Road on the outskirts of Limerick city.

One of those arrested has close links to the family of murdered Limerick crime figure Kieran Keane.

He was being detained for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against theState Act at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick city.

Three other men arrested as part of the same operation were taken to garda stations in Tipperary town and Clonmel.
