Liverpool defender Steve Finnan insists the club are still determined to finish third in the Premiership despite manager Rafael Benitez fielding weakened sides in their last two matches.
Benitez has come in for plenty of criticism for naming shadow sides for the defeats at Portsmouth and Fulham.
Rival managers have claimed his team selections have had an effect on the race for the UEFA Cup, which involves Pompey, and the battle to avoid relegation, with Fulham now safe.
But full-back Finnan maintains the sides sent out by Liverpool in those two matches should have been good enough to win.
And the Republic of Ireland international is adamant he and his colleagues are determined to finish above Arsenal before turning their attention to the Champions League final in Athens on May 23.
"There is still a lot to play for and we want to finish as high as we can," said Finnan.
"I know the team has changed quite a bit in the last couple of league games but the teams which have been put out should have been good enough.
"It was disappointing to lose at Fulham but there is no doubt the boss is looking ahead to the Champions League final so it is a chance for players to come in and show what they can do.
"But it is also important that some of the other lads are able to rest and steer clear of injuries so they are fresh for the final."
