Thieves steal ATM in Co Armagh

Police in Newry, Co Down, are investigating the theft of an ATM from a bank in Co Armagh this morning.

At about 5.50am, a tractor and trailer drove into the Square area of Crossmaglen, and a digger was taken from the trailer and used to remove the ATM.

According to a Garda statement, issued on behalf of the PSNI, the tractor, trailer and digger were set alight, and the thieves made off in a flatbed type van and a small, dark coloured car.

Police believe the digger and tractor used in the theft were stolen from the Ardee area overnight between January 14th and 15th.

They are appealing to anyone who saw an orange Fiat Hitachi track digger or green John Deere tractor in the Ardee area or anywhere else between January 14th and 16th to contact the PSNI on 04890 650222.
