Tension is rising in Garvaghy Road, Portadown, as the nationalist residents await the passing of yet another Orange parade close to the area.

This afternoon's scheduled parade by the Portadown District Women's Orange Lodge has been organised in support of the continuing protest at Drumcree church.

In recent nights the numbers of protesters at Drumcree has grown steadily. Until a few weeks ago, Orangemen and their supporters had gathered at the Co Armagh church for a few hours before dispersing. But during the past 10 days Orangemen have attempted to march towards Garvaghy Road.
