Motorists were being warned today of disruption on Dublin's M50 as temporary road layouts are put in place.

The congested motorway will have restrictions in place from 6am between the N7 Red Cow interchange and the N4 Lucan exit.

The northbound carriageway will be divided into two separate lanes to create required working space for upgrade works. Drivers wishing to leave the road at the N4 exit are warned to use the left hand lane.

Both lanes will allow traffic to continue north on the M50 but the N4 Lucan junction will only allow access to Galway, Sligo, Lucan and Palmerstown.

The new layout will be in place for around six weeks.
