Two teenage girls who were killed in a road accident near Castlemaine, Co Kerry early this morning have been named as 18-year-old Claire O'Donnell and 19-year-old Rachel Greensmith, both from the West Kerry village of Camp.
Five other people were injured in the accident which occurred at around 3.00 a.m. Gardaí say the car in which all seven were travelling veered off the road and plunged 20 feet into a riverbed.
They were pronounced dead on arrival at Tralee General Hospital at 4.15 a.m.
Three 21-year-olds and two 19-year-olds were also brought to the hospital. Two of them are still being kept under observation.
