A teenager is to be charged with the rape of an American girl outside a bar in Derry. The youth, aged 18, is due to appear at a court in the city tomorrow, police said.
The teenage student was attacked at knifepoint outside the Bogside Inn where she had been with friends on Saturday night.
Detectives investigating the rape said she had been left severely traumatised. She later returned home to the United States.
Yesterday 150 women in the Bogside staged a candle-lit vigil in protest at the attack.
