The principal of Ballyfermot Senior College in Dublin has been appointed director of the new National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE). Mr Jerome Morrissey has been involved in the development of new information and communication courses for Post-Leaving Certificate colleges. He has also worked with the IDA and Forbairt on a study of the Irish multi-media industry, and has helped to establish a new centre for creative and emerging technologies in Dublin.
He was appointed yesterday by the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Martin.
The NCTE has been charged with the implementation of Schools IT 2000, a major programme aimed at expanding information and communication technologies at primary and secondary levels.
