The deputy leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, Mr John Taylor, has been appointed to serve on the political affairs committee of the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe. Mr Taylor said his appointment gave him an opportunity to promote Ulster Unionism to senior politicians in the 40 countries which make up the council. He was also appointed as one of two UK members of the Strasbourg assembly's agriculture committee.
