A 23-year-old man who was injured in a shooting incident in Tallaght, Dublin, early yesterday was last night described as being in a stable condition in hospital.

Gardaí said the shooting occurred at 12.25 a.m. following "an altercation outside a house" at Knockmore Green.

The injured man, who was shot in the arm, was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Gardaí said they believed two shots were fired and that the culprit left the scene on foot.

Gardaí investigating the incident are understood to be following a definite line of inquiry.

The scene was sealed off for forensic examination.
