Nationalist councillors from Belfast are to meet Northern Ireland ministers at Stormont today to discuss rising sectarian violence at interface areas after another night of street clashes.

Sinn Féin councillors are set to join residents from the north and east of the city at a meeting with security minister Ms Jane Kennedy this morning to discuss the disturbances.

Ms Kennedy's fellow Northern Ireland Office minister Mr Des Browne will then face questions from a delegation of nationalist SDLP councillors from across the city in the afternoon.

North Belfast SDLP councillor Mr Martin Morgan said they would be asking what practical steps the British government planned to take to ease the suffering of those living at flashpoints.

Ulster Unionist MLAs and councillors will meet tomorrow to discuss the situation.
