Nurses at Waterford Regional Hospital are to meet with management at the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow morning following a second day of work-to-rule action by theatre nurses in pursuit of a pay claim.

The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO), which represents the nurses, has made a claim for an increase in pay allowances for theatre nurses providing on-call and out-of-hours duty services.

This followed an agreement at Loughlinstown Hospital and the East Coast Area Health Board.

The theatre nurses began their work-to-rule action yesterday. They are refusing to do non-nursing duties or to work overtime if staff shortages arise.

The South Eastern Health Board has said it requested the action be suspended pending talks at the Labour Relations Commission. The INO was unavailable for comment this evening.
