A surgeon who is unable to carry out lengthy operations after a bullock ran into his car was awarded £100,000 agreed damages in the High Court in Belfast yesterday.

Mr Michael O'Reilly, Waterloo Park, Belfast, received a serious knee injury in the accident in Co Fermanagh four years ago. Mr O'Reilly (50), who is the senior consultant vascular surgeon at Belfast City Hospital, still suffers pain and discomfort.

His action against Mr Basil Fawcett, of Corracloon, Derrygonnelly, Co Fermanagh, was settled out of court.
