A Dublin schoolboy who was one of three winners in a competition to name a new ship for the Naval Service has double cause for celebrations.

Ross Casey (13) from Castleknock College secondary school chose the winning name for the vessel after his younger sister, Niamh. By coincidence, his other sister, Orla, already shares her name with another vessel in the fleet.

The ship L.E. Niamh is being constructed by Apple-dore Shipbuilders in Devon, England, and will be delivered to the Naval Service by May.
