A strike threatened at 20 Eastern Health Board-funded day nurseries from tomorrow has been deferred. IMPACT, which represents the 120 staff involved, agreed to defer the action and ballot members on improved terms after meeting management yesterday.
The strike was over a refusal by management to honour a Labour Court pay award. An EHB spokeswoman said last night that resources had now been found to implement the award, worth up to £15 a week, and the board was pleased that IMPACT had agreed to defer the strike, pending the outcome of the ballot.
