Paris - French rail traffic was disrupted yesterday as some train drivers went on a four-day strike to demand wage rises, the state railway company, SNCF, said.

Paris suburban and express underground trains were worst hit by the stoppage, called by the FGAAC trade union, which represents 30 per cent of the country's 18,000 train drivers.
