The four Moroccan stowaways found on a ship which docked in Cork on Wednesday have asked to be flown home rather than apply for asylum, the Department of Justice has said.

The men were held last night in the training centre of Dublin's Mountjoy prison, after twice indicating they had no interest in making asylum applications. They will be returned home today.

The four stowed away on the MV Cheshire on New Year's Day when it left Morocco bound for the Irish Fertiliser Industries plant in Cork harbour.
