The All-Ireland colleges hurling final was contested at Croke Park this afternoon where St Colman’s of Fermoy emerged victorious over Gort Community School of Galway.

In a thrilling game where St Colman’s won by 2-10 to 2-7, Andrew O’Shaughnessy took all the plaudits.Gort had put pressure on the Cork side to lead 0-4 to 0-3 at half-time before O’Shaughnessy made his mark on the match.

Scoring a total of two goals and seven points, the man-of-the-match ensured the Cork side took the lead.Joseph O’Leary gave the Gort support something to shout about with a late penalty but St. Colman’s held on to take the title.

Elsewhere, Derry were crowned Ulster Minor Football League Champions following this afternoon’s 3-07 to 1-07 victory over Armagh.In the Leinster Minor Football Championship Dublin ran out convincing winners by 9-21 to 0-02 over Kilkenny.Meanwhile Wexford had a struggle on their hands as they narrowly defeated Longford by 1-12 to 1-10.
