South Korea's Park Sung-hyun set a world best in the ranking round of the women's Olympic individual archery today.

Park, the world number two, scored 682 points to beat the previous best mark set Italy's Natalia Valeeva earlier this year by three points.

Korean women finished first, second and third in the 64-athlete field and their combined score smashed the previous best team score set by the Koreans at the last Olympics.

The combined score of Park, Lee Sung-jin and Yun Mi-jin was 2030, 36 points higher than the mark set by their compatriots four years ago in Sydney.

The scores do not constitute official world records as they were achieved in a ranking round contest.
