Some of Dublin's 24-hour Garda stations may be closed to free up personnel to patrol the city's streets, the Garda Commissioner said today.
Speaking at the Garda Representatives Association (GRA) annual conference today, Mr Pat Byrne said this would likely be the recommendation of a steering group working under the Strategic Management Initiative (SMI).
"When you have a city the size of Dublin you would have to ask is there a better way of doing things," he said. "It is part of looking at all aspects of An Garda Siochana with a view to getting as many people on the streets as possible".
