The High Court has struck off a solicitor for misconduct over her failure to comply with an undertaking to register a bank’s first legal charge over an office premises.

The order was granted by president of the High Court, Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns, against Jacqueline M Durcan (42), principal of Durcans Solicitors, Spencer Park, Castlebar, Co Mayo.

Ms Durcan had admitted to a solicitors disciplinary tribunal inquiry she had failed to comply in time, or at all, with her undertaking concerning ACC’s charge on offices at Ellison Street, Castlebar, when that property was bought in 2005 with a €500,000 loan issued to her brother Ted. Ms Durcan had power of attorney on her brother’s behalf.
