Three Irishmen alleged to be members of the Real IRA are to be extradited to Britain following a decision by a legal tribunal in Trnava, Slovakia on today.

The three accused - Mr Declan Rafferty, Mr Michael McDonald and Mr Fintan O'Farrell - were arrested on July 5 at the resort town of Piestany on suspicion of seeking to buy arms and explosives, following a joint operation involving Slovakian police and British agents, according to the news agency Tasr.

Slovakian court sources said the British extradition request listed five charges likely to be brought against the three men, who have been implicated in "terrorist activities".

The extradition process is expected to take several weeks during which the three men will remain in Slovakian custody, Tasr reported.
