Dublin men who pushed third man off Slane bridge on day of last year's REM concert were given the Probation after Navan District Court was told they had paid £3,000 in compensation to the injured party and had no previous convictions.

Patrick Swaine (20) and Pat Freeman (22), both of Newbawn Drive, Tallaght, admitted common assault and public order offences on July 22nd last year. Retired Garda Frank Madden said he knew both men and what happened was totally out of character.
