The skipper of a fishing vessel which sank and drowned two men off the Co Down coast last year has been charged with causing their deaths.

Conrad Zych (28) was also accused of neglecting his duty on the ship by not maintaining a proper lookout during the Greenhill sinking in January 2006.

He was the only survivor after the boat hit rocks close to Ardglass.

A report by the North's Marine Accident Investigation Branch found there was nobody at the wheel during the tragedy.

The body of Donal Gibson (22) was found but Conor Bogues (24) is still missing.

Mr Zych, from Downpatrick Road in Ardglass, appeared at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Monday. He was released on bail and will reappear on November 8th.
