Ireland's Six Nations rugby clash with Scotland on Saturday will generate total spending of €11 million, Dublin Chamber of Commerce (DCC) said today.
According to the DCC's figures, €10 million of this will come from out-of-state visitors attending the Landsdowne Road match.
Of this €10 million, €2.9 million will be spent on accommodation, €2.7 million on food and drink, and €1.5 million on entertainment. Total expenditure surrounding the game will generate the equivalent of 317 full-time jobs for one year in Ireland
Previous surveys at this fixture have shown that 56 per cent of out-of-state visitors have said that they will return to Ireland again.
Mr Declan Martin, director of policy at the DCC, said the popularity of Dublin amongst rugby fans highlighted "that Dublin could seriously benefit from having a large-capacity stadium whose potential the entire city would maximise."
