Members of the Shell to Sea group are to stage a coast-to-coast protest in early August as part of their ongoing campaign.

The Long Walk will see participants going in daily stages from the Shell compound in Rossport on Saturday July 29th to Dublin city centre on Saturday, August 12th.

The walkers will visit Bellanaboy, Bellacorick, Ballina, Straide, Charlestown, Frenchpark, Strokestown, Longford, Mullingar, Clonard, Kilcock and the Liffey Valley area.

The walk is intended to give the public an opportunity to find out what the Shell To Sea group is about and to enable people to ask questions about the campaign and share their own experiences.

Organisers say that inspiration for the walk came from various sources, including the 1963 march on Washington by Martin Luther King Jr.and Mohandas K. Gandhi's march to the sea to make salt.
