Sinn Fein has criticised comments by Ulster Unionist MP Mr Ken Maginnis claiming murdered solicitor Mrs Rosemary Nelson and Catholic Mr Robert Hamill may have had sympathy with the IRA.

The party called on Mr Maginnis to withdraw his "outrageous" comments, which were quoted in an interview with the Impartial Reporter. He had stated: "Of course, Ulster Unionists believe that no murder is justified - whether the victim is innocent or guilty. For example, Pat Finucane was inextricably linked with the IRA, while Robert Hamill and Rosemary Nelson were, at worst, sympathetic."
